New trailer, new blog, and new adventures ahead

POINT RICHMOND -  The Red Writer is just a day away from its maiden camping voyage, the perfect time to set up this blog, an online chronicle about the adventures of this T@B Teardrop trailer and its occupants.

It's been awhile since I set up a blog. My first blog was put together 12 years ago at a desk in Sacramento in a condo on the south shore of the American River. Today,  I'm sitting 200 yards or so from San Francisco Bay. There seems to be a water theme in all this.

The Red Writer trailer has a brand-new house battery, courtesy of Fox Marine in Point Richmond. It's a 12-volt AGM battery that is, to say it politely, heavy as all hell. But it packs a lot of power. And sometime later this spring it will be augmented with a solar panel (or two) to ensure that when Adm. Sylvia Fox and I are camping (where there's no access to electricity), we'll still have juice to keep the lights on. And the stereo, tea kettle, DVD player, television, computers and other electrical-hungry amenities.

In case this is your first glimpse at this red rig there are a few photos posted below. There will likely be lots more after we take the trip to the wilds of Olema, CA Tuesday. The RV park/campground wilds does include wi-fi, electricity, and hot showers.

No sense rushing too far into the wilderness on the shakedown cruise.

  6. Michael! Can you and Sylvia adopt me? And, oh yeah, my wife, too? We'd fit perfectly in that little teardrop. Full disclosure: We also have a cat - well, cats actually.

    1. Joe, of course, you, your wife - and the cats - are all now part of the FitzFox clan. We might need to buy another trailer for everyone, though... By the way, is your driveway big enough for the Red Writer when we visit NY?
